(TS) – The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced the adoption of Bluetooth® low energy wireless technology, which is the hallmark feature of the Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0.

As an enhancement to the specification, Bluetooth low energy technology opens entirely new markets for devices requiring low cost and low power wireless connectivity with this evolution in Bluetooth wireless technology that will enable a plethora of new applications – some not even possible or imagined today. Many markets such as healthcare, sports and fitness, security, and home entertainment will be enhanced with the availability of small coin-cell battery powered wireless products and sensors now enabled by Bluetooth wireless technology.

RAM (Random Access Memory )

Hynix Announces 16GB RAM Modules


While 2 GB seem to suffice even for the infamous Windows Vista, PC games are likely to require more and more RAM coupled with a powerful GPU and CPU combo in the years to come. Take for example Crysis Warhead which requires more than 2 GB of ram to run at relatively smooth framerates. Sure, that might point to the fact that some game developers are unable to optimize their software, but the need for more memory isn’t limited to games and video encoding. The server sector is another important RAM devourer.

Taking all these things into consideration, Hynix Semiconductor, one of the major memory chip manufacturers, announced that it will soon launch MetaRAM's new DDR3 technology in its next generation R-DIMMs. This will bring the world's first 16GB 2-rank DIMM (HMT32GR7AER4C-GD) to the masses. The new modules have already been demoed at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco last week.

According to Digit-Life, DDR3 MetaRAM is similar to the previous generation of DDR2 technology that enables significantly more memory in a server. However, Hynix had to find a way for the DDR3 MetaRAM technology to enable larger memory capacity without negatively impacting the operating frequency of the DDR3 memory channel. The system on display at IDF had 24GB of DDR3 SDRAM and was capable of 1066 million transactions per-second (MT/s). Since Nehalem CPUs enable triple channel configurations, users may include up to 96 GB running at 1066 MT/s.

Hynix also announced 8 GB modules but the press release discloses no info on availability and price.

2.5Gbps DDR3 from Elpida 

Alongside Micron, Elpida is the most important memory chipmaker on the market. While Micron has already presented some breakthroughs in the SSD sector, Elpida continues to stick to DDR3 chips and now announces that it had developed the world’s first 2.5Gbps 1-gigabit DDR3 SDRAM.

Elpida introduces an optimized design based on a copper interconnect process and new circuit technology that not only enables faster speeds but also an ultra-low voltage operation of 1.2V while maintaining the current high-speed DDR3 specifications.

According to the press release, the key features of the new DDR3 SDRAM are as follows:

● Characteristics that achieve a next-generation DDR3 data rate over a range of voltages
Data rate: 667Mbps-2.5Gbps; voltage: 1.2V-1.5V
● Common-die solution for fast operating speed and ultra-low voltage operation
One chip enables a wide range of operating voltages and operating speeds suited not only to new low-voltage/high-speed systems but is also compatible with existing standard 1.5V systems. A product that meets customer demand for all kinds of system designs.
● 25% faster than products with aluminum interconnects and consumes as much as 22% less power.

The improved DDR3 SDRAM chips are intended for applications in the areas of servers and high-end PCs. However, I’m sure most DDR module integrators will also release gaming memory kits based on the copper interconnect chips. Sample shipments are scheduled to begin by the end of August. Elpida staes it won’t stop here; using a process shrink, the Japanese company is willing to enable the new memory product to achieve even faster speeds and lower voltage.

OCZ Preps 16GB Memory Kits 

A few days ago, I was a bit surprised to find out that even entry-level PC system s come equipped with 4 GB RAM. Admittedly, there’s no immediate need for 4 GB, lest you work with rendering and video encoding software or play Crysis. But memory integrators are practically ahead of time, providing 8 GB or even 16 GB memory kits.

OCZ is among the first to announce a 16 GB DDR2 800 MHz memory kit consisting of 4 modules, along with the 8GB 800MHz DDR2 Platinum, Gold and Vista Upgrade dual kits.

According to the press release, the last three will consist of two 4GB memory modules. The difference between the two 8GB kits is in the color of XTC heatspreader and the latency at which they work. The OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum 8GB kit runs at 5-4-4-15 timings, the Gold kit 5-5-5-15 and the Vista Upgrade 5-6-6-18. All 8 GB kits need 1.8 Volts and come with extended Voltage protection of up to 1.85 Volts.
The impressiv 16GB Quad kit works at 800MHz with 5-6-6-18 latencies at 1.8 Volts. It also uses black XTC heatspreaders and has an EVP of 1.85 Volts.
OCZ doesn’t mention anything about price and availability. Supposedly, the 16 GB kit will end up costing $600+.

OCZ Intel - optimized DDR3 Modules.

DDR3 RAM modules are starting to become quite affordable and I’m sure that, by the end of this year and as soon as AMD launches their DDR3 chipsets, this type of memory will become the solution of choice. Curiously enough, I haven’t heard much about any future DDR4 modules, but that is some other story. How about some speedy DDR3 modules optimized to run with Intel’s latest platforms?

It’s the OCZ guys again, this time with a couple of Intel XMP certified PC3-12800 and PC3-10666 kits, optimized to work on Intel's X38/X48 chipset. According to Fudzilla, the PC3-12800 Intel Extreme Edition, works at 1600MHz with 7-7-7-24 latencies. In order to facilitate overclocking capabilities, OCZ included a second XMP profile which makes the module work at 1800MHz with 9-9-9-31 latencies. It need 1.9 Volts and comes with Extended Voltage Protection (EVP), so you can easily pump it up to 2.0V without compromising the lifetime warranty. This one will be available as 2GB and 4GB kits and it is cooled by OCZ's Intel-branded XTC heatspreader.

The PC3-10666 Intel Extreme Edition works at 1333MHz with 7-7-7-20 latencies and 1.75V. Once again we see a second XMP profile which takes this module to 1600MHz with 9-9-9-28 latencies and 1.8 Volts. The EVP option works fine up to 1.9 Volts. It too will come in 2G and 4GB kits, with a XTC heatspreaders.

Usage 

Just like you can do certain activities in order to prolong the life of your computer battery, you can do some steps in order to prolong the use of the hard drive that you have inserted in your computer, no matter if we are speaking about a laptop computer or about a desktop. In fact, you can do this even with your smartphones and tablet computers, that have a hard drive or a solid-state drive. The internal memories of the tablet computers, which usually do not use a hard disk drive, can benefit of the same steps if you want to prolong the use of the internal memory.

I have discovered on the Internet several ways of maximizing your storage usage. Fortunately, many of the things that I have read in that article were familiar to me and I have used them before knowing that this is in fact a way of prolonging the use of my hard drive. I know that from time to time you have to clean your hard drive from unnecessary files and documents. In fact, if the operating system is set to announce you when you have unused icons on your desktop or if it is set to take to the garbage or in other words to the Recycle Bin of your computer the documents that you haven't accessed in 2 or 3 years let's say, you will benefit of the advantages of storing your information in a good way, simply by running that type of operating system. Some other systems require the user to take the final decision of deleting those documents that were not accessed in many years, but most of them delete them without announcing the user.

Nevertheless, when you click on deleting the files or documents that you haven't accessed in years, you can see what are those files and documents and you can even open them to see what is their content. Also, when you want to store files it would be preferable not to create thousands of folders where you will store only one Word file. When you want to access something quickly, it is true, you can create a shortcut of that document directly on the desktop, but would not be better to create a folder where you can store your personal and most important information, folder that can be accessed in 2 or 3 moves?

Another way to benefit of your hard drive for a long time would be to take good care of your computer and not to use it in locations with extreme temperatures or where it is very much dust. The high humidity and the dusty locations are the deadliest enemies of the electronics. From time to time, just like you clean your hard drive from unnecessary files, it would be good to clean your computer from dust. Don't do this by yourself, because you can touch some important electronic circuits that are not supposed to be touched, but instead see a specialist.

Measurement

The computer storage of a laptop computer or of a desktop computer (it doesn't matter) is represented by the hard drive or by the solid-state drive. But the information that are stored in here must have a limit. In this way, you cannot store in your computer more than 20 videos, let's say, or more than 100 photos. Of course these examples are only made to show you that you can store information on a hard drive or solid-state drive but only if you take into consideration certain limits.

The information that can be stored in a computer is measured by bites. Then we have megabytes, gigabytes and terabytes. Today I would like to speak with you about the hard drive created by Seagate which is named Barracuda. I'm talking about the Barracuda green hard drive that allows you to save your time. The leading performance provided by Seagate combined with the SmartAlign technology deliver you a green product that is created to enhance your productivity.

Let's present the technical specifications of the Barracuda green SATA 2 TB hard drive. I'm sure that you are accustomed to see the technical specifications of a notebook computer more than seeing the specifications of the component that is inserted in that notebook. Well today, we are going to change that and present the details of a hard drive, in this way you will understand better what happens inside your hard drive and how hard drive actually works, because if you understand the components that create the hard drive and how the hard drive actually stores information, you will be able to understand better the functionality of this internal part of every computer.

I will review the model number ST2000DL003. The interface of this product is SATA 6 GB/s. The cache of the product is of 64 MB. The capacity is as I have said before of 2 TB. The areal density is 422 GB/in2. Now let's present the physical dimensions. On the site of the manufacturer they are presented in millimeters and in inches as well. I would present only the millimeters versions: the height of the Barracuda green product is up 26.1 mm, the width of 101.6 mm and the last is of 147.00 mm. The weight of the product is of 635g. Now let's present more information about the performance of this product. I will start with the spin speed, which is by default presented in rotations per minute or revolutions per minute and which in our case is of 5900 RPM. The sustained data transfer rate is 144 MB/s. The average latency is of 5.08 ms, the random read seek time is of 12 ms and the random write seek time is of 13 ms. I don't know if these technical details mean anything to you, but they definitely mean something to professionals. I will come back with more information related to the hard drives created by Seagate, because I see them as being some of the best in the whole world.

Desktop

A desktop computers storage is represented by the hard drive or recently by the solid-state drive. The solid-state drive allows you to store more information in a lower amount of GB. For example, you can buy a desktop computer that has 500 GB of solid-state drive where you will be able to store much more photos and videos than on a 500 GB hard disk drive desktop computer.

Today I have entered Seagate.com, the site of a very well known hard disk drive manufacturer. I will try to present the information related to the hard drives that this company creates. Among their services that are for home, for business and for enterprises, we can name the external storage devices, internal storage devices, home entertainment products, network attached storage, different services and accessories. I will enter the desktop storage category or subcategory (this is in fact a subcategory of the main category which is named For Business). And here we can find three types of Barracuda hard drives. I would like to make a compare is on between them, because this is how the manufacturer itself proceeds.

As long as you have a powerful desktop computer, why not get the best in terms of hard drives for your computer? The first type of Barracuda hard drive is the XT hard drive which has the capacity between 2 TB and 3 TB, the spin speed is of 7200 revolutions per minute, the drive size is of 3.5 and the interface is made using the SATA technology with 6 GB per second. What else can we say about this XT hard drive created by Seagate? I am pretty sure that you are interested in the annual failure rate of this product, which in our case is of 0.34% and in the amount of cache used by this product. This last feature is of 64 MB. Now let's present another Barracuda hard drive, which is most likely more affordable than the first one, because the storage capacity is from 160 GB to 1 TB. The speed of this hard drive is the same as in the previous case and the drive size exactly the same. The interface is just like the first and the annual failure rate, the same. The only thing that is different between this type of hard drive and the first one, which is destined mostly for professionals (no wonder this Seagate XT hard drive is included in the business category) is the fact that the cache has 8 MB, 16 MB and 32 MB in the case of this second type of hard drive.

And now last but not least I want to present the Barracuda green hard drives, which allow you to store information from 1.5 TB to 2 TB. The speed of the hard drive is of 5900 revolutions per minute and the cache of 64 MB. The rest of the characteristics are the same as the features presented earlier.

Computer Printer Storage Tables

If you don't have a laptop and instead you use a desktop computer, most likely you also have a desk where you can place the computer monitor and at the same time below, you place the central processing units as well.

In this situation, you can also place on the desk some peripherals, such as a printer and a scanner.

If you use a laptop and you don't have a place to put the laptop and you simply move with it from a room to a room or from work to house (after all, this is a portable device), you need a printer table, because this is one of the peripherals that you have to have in your house. Not mentioning that some of the printers allow you to scan and copy at the same time, being multifunctional devices. So you don't need another peripheral, like a scanner. On Amazon, I have found many computer printer tables, made of natural wood. The first one is a Grant Alliance Mission-Style File Cart sold along with the computer printer table. I cannot understand why the manufacturer made this combination, but I can see that the furniture looks pretty good. The price of this item is of $59.99. The next product costs $59 and it is a Winsome Wood Printer Stand, that comes with the drawer and a shelf. Even though this item does not come along with the file cart, it costs almost the same like the previous product which cost one dollar more.

You can place your printer on an adjustable monitor stand, only that you will replace the monitor with the printer. I like very much the fact that the stand is very low, it almost hits the ground. The price for such stand is of $24.99. An even cheaper product can be found from Allsop; I am talking about a monitor stand, which comes along with that of the computer monitor obviously, and which is sold for $18.53. Like in the case of the previous model, you can replace the monitor with the printer. As long as you want to buy a color laser printer, which is usually a heavy item, you will not be able to use a piece of furniture. You can simply place the printer in one part or another of the room and you will consider the printer as being a part of the furniture that you have in your house or at the headquarters of your company. I personally like very much the Furinno home laptop notebook computer desk stable, which is easy to assemble. Instead of placing the notebook computer on that desk, you can simply place your printer. I like it more because it uses the light cherry finish. The price of such product is of $27.99. If you use cabinets in order to store your computer storage information, on that cabinet, if it is not too high, you can place your printer. Once again, I refer only to the home printers, which are usually inkjets printers, not laser printers.

Computer Storage Rack

When you say computer storage, you don't necessarily refer to the hard drive that is stored in your computer or to a solid-state drive. You can also refer to the CDs or DVDs that contain information taken from your computer or directly from the Internet.

At the same time there are some external hard drives and solid-state drives, that cannot be considered CDs or DVDs, they are another form of storing information, a storing method that does not interfere with the hard drive that is already installed in the computer when you buy it.

Between the computer storage equipments, we can name the racks, cabinets, enclosures and other type of computer storage medium. You can use for example variousboxes, where you keep shoes or other type of electronics, just make sure that you don't store the shoes and the external hard drive for example in the same box. If you want the information to be protected, you can set a username and password that should be provided when you start to use the external hard drive or the CD and at the same time you can place a lock in the place the rack or the cabinet is located. In this way, you will protect the information that is stored in the computer storage device, in 2 ways. On the site named cableorganizer.com, I have found many products that allow you to store your information. Today we don't actually use these, because now we have the Cloud. We can store our information online, and set as well a username and password in order to access it. If this allows us to not to use another computer storage box or a rack, then we shall choose the most appropriate solution for us. I personally prefer to use the services offered by the Cloud and I do not store my information on CDs or DVDs. I don't have an external hard drive, because I knew even from the start that I will not need a device like this.

Some of the boxes or cabinets that can be found on this site and in general, that can be found all over the Internet, allow the user to connect the external hard drive to a wall power source, directly from the cabinet within which it is placed. Software that function as a conversion or translation laayer.It is also a consolidator and integrator.Custom -programmed middleware solution have been developed for decades to enable one application to communicate with another that either runs on a different platform or comes from a different vendor or both.Today ,there is a diverse group of products thatoffer packaged middleware solutions as outlined in the following examples.See application integration  :

1. TP Monitors - The TP monitor (transaction processing monitor) was perhaps the first product to be                       called middleware.Sitting between the requesting client program and the databases,it ensures that all databases are updated properly.
2. Messaging Middleware - Messaging middleware provides a common interface and transport between applications.If the target machine is down or overloaded,it stores the data in a message queue until it becomes available.The messaging system may contain business logic that routes messaging to the appropriate destinations and reformats the data as well.Messaging middleware is similar to an e-mail messaging system,expect that it is used to send data between application.
3. Distributed Processing - Distributed object system such as CORBA,DCOM and EJB enable proceses to be run anywhere in the network.They differ from messaging middleware in that they cause processes (components /objects ) to be executed in real time rather than sending data .
4. Database Middleware  - Middleware provides a common interface between a query and multiple ,distributed databases.Using either a hub and spoke architecture ( top ) or a distributed architecture     ( bottom ) , it enables data to be consolidated from a variety of disparate data sources (see EDA and DQbroker )
5. Common Interfaces - Common programming interfaces betweeen applications are considered middleware .For example ,Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) enables application to make a standard call to all the databases that support the ODBC interface.

Application Server Middleware 

• A web-based application server that provides interfaces to wide variety of applications is used as middleware between the browser and legacy systems.The browser can be used at desktops or on laptops when treaveling.A wide range of server-side processing has been supported by appservers.

Universal Computing 

• These two examples link an application to an operating environment and are the Holy Grail of computing .They enable  the same program to run any hardware platform without  modification .HTML pages written in Java Script can execute on any Java Script- enabled Web browser running under any operating system.Java applications and applets are executed by a Java Virtual Machine ,Which can be created for any operating system.Thus ,the browser and Java Negate the requirement for a single operating system and hardware environment.

Network Logon 

• Middleware for networks includes a common approach for identifying users and network resources , authorizing and authenticating users and setting up standardized directory schemas.Using middleware in this fashion avoids the problems that occur when applications are responsible for these tasks and incompatible versions arise.The Internet project is expected to make advancements in this area.

      

Enterprise Integration

The motherboard is the main component inside the case .It is a large rectangular board with integrated circuity that connects the other parts of the computer including the CPU ,the RAM, the disk drives (CD,DVD,hard disk,or any others)as well as any peripherals connected via the ports or the expansion slots.

Components directly attached to the motherboard include :

• The CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT(CPU) performs most of the calculations which enable a computer to function ,and is sometimes referred to as the "brain " of the computer.It is usually cooled by a heat sink and fan.Newer CPUs include an on die GRAPHICS CESSING UNIT (GPU).
• The CHIP SET mediates communication between the CPU and the other components of the system ,including main memory. 
• RAM (random -access memory ) stores resident part of the current running OS (OS core and so on ) and all running  processes (application parts,using cpu or input/output ( I/0) channels or waiting for CPU or  I/0 channels ).
• The BIOS includes boot firmware and power management .The Basic Input Output System tasks are handled by operating system drivers.Newer motherboards use Unified Extensible Firmware Interface instead of BIOS.
• Internal Buses connect the CPU to various internal components and to expansion cards for graphics and sound.

Makanlah yang halal & berzat (thayyib)

Ia merupakan ketetapan yang mutlak dan muktamad daripada Allah yang tidak boleh dipinda lagi. Kalau arak dan khinzir dihukum haram, maka ia tetap haram kerana pengharaman itu adalah berdasarkan kepada nas al-Quran yang jelas.

Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda yang bermaksud:

Daripada Salman al-Farisi semasa Rasulullah s.a.w. ditanya tentang hukum lemak, keju dan keldai hutan, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. menjelaskan bahawa apa yang dihalalkan di dalam kitab Allah adalah halal dan apa yang diharamkan-Nya adalah haram, manakala apa yang didiamkan, ada kemaafan bagi kamu.

Al-Quran ketika berbicara tentang makanan, Allah s.w.t. memerintahkan agar manusia memakan makanan yang sifatnya halal dan thayyib iaitu yang lazat, baik dan menyihatkan. Malah al-Quran telah menyenaraikan pelbagai jenis makanan yang memiliki zat seperti ikan, madu, buah-buahan, lemak dan minyak untuk dimakan oleh manusia. Pada prinsipnya sesuatu yang ada di alam nyata ini adalah halal untuk digunakan.

Firman Allah dalam surah al-Mu’minun ayat 19 yang bermaksud:

>>“Kemudian, Kami tumbuhkan kamu dengan air itu, kebun-kebun tamar (kurma) dan anggur. Kamu beroleh dalam kebun-kebun itu (pelbagai jenis lagi) buah-buahan yang banyak, dan dari kebun-kebun itulah kamu beroleh rezeki penghidupan kamu.”

Al-Quran sesungguhnya mengecam mereka yang mengharamkan rezeki halal yang disediakan oleh Allah kepada manusia.

Dalam hal ini, Allah s.w.t. telah berfirman dalam surah Yunus ayat 59 yang bermaksud:

“Katakanlah (kepada kaum yang mengada-adakan sesuatu hukum): Sudahkah kamu nampak baik buruknya sesuatu yang diturunkan Allah untuk manfaat kamu itu hingga dapat kamu jadikan sebahagian daripadanya haram dan sebahagiannya lagi halal? Katakanlah (kepada mereka): Adakah Allah izinkan bagi kamu berbuat demikian atau kamu hanya mengada-adakan secara dusta terhadap Allah?”

Dia (Allah) menciptakan untuk kamu apa yang ada di bumi seluruhnya. (Surah al-Baqarah ayat 29).

Dalam kita menikmati rezeki yang dianugerahkan oleh Allah yang berupa makanan dan minuman itu, jangan lupa bahawa kita perlu bersikap sederhana di dalam memanfaatkan rezeki tersebut sehingga tidak membazir atau melampau batas sehingga memudaratkan tubuh badan kita. Tidak dapat disangkal bahawa makanan mempunyai pengaruh yang sangat besar terhadap pertumbuhan dan kesihatan jasmani manusia terutamanya terhadap jiwa manusia.

Seorang ulama besar, al-Harali berpendapat bahawa jenis makanan dan minuman sesungguhnya dapat mempengaruhi jiwa dan sifat-sifat mental pemakannya. Justeru itu alasan al-Quran cukup kuat apabila ia mengharamkan arak, bangkai, darah dan daging khinzir kerana ia akan memberi kesan atau mudarat ke atas jiwa manusia.

Allah berfirman dalam surah al-Maidah ayat 90 yang bermaksud:

Wahai orang yang beriman! Bahawa sesungguhnya arak dan judi dan pemujaan berhala, dan mengundi nasib dengan batang-batang anak panah, adalah (semuanya) kotor (keji) daripada perbuatan syaitan. Oleh itu hendaklah kamu menjauhinya supaya kamu berjaya.

Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad) aku tidak dapati dalam apa yang telah diwahyukan kepadaku, sesuatu yang diharamkan bagi orang-orang yang hendak memakannya melainkan kalau benda itu bangkai atau darah yang mengalir atau daging babi kerana sesungguhnya ia adalah kotor atau sesuatu yang dilakukan secara fasik iaitu binatang yang disembelih atas nama yang lain dari Allah.

Kemudian sesiapa yang terpaksa (memakannya kerana darurat) sedang ia tidak menginginnya dan tidak melampaui batas maka sesungguhnya Tuhanmu Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Mengasihani. (Surah al-An’am ayat 145).

>>Sesuatu makanan yang dihalalkan oleh Islam sudah pasti ia akan memberi kebaikan kepada manusia dan tidak akan membawa kemudaratan. Begitulah sebaliknya sesuatu yang diharam itu sudah tentu akan memudaratkan tubuh badan manusia.

Islam juga telah menetapkan bahawa sesuatu makanan yang dianggap halal tetapi cara mendapatkannya tidak halal adalah haram untuk dimakan.

Sebagai contoh barang curi atau harta yang dirampas, makan harta anak yatim dan memakan harta benda yang diperoleh secara riba.

Rasulullah s.a.w. juga mengaitkan antara termakbulnya doa dengan makanan halal. Beliau bersabda sebagaimana yang diriwayatkan oleh Imam Muslim yang bermaksud:

Wahai seluruh manusia. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Baik. Dia tidak menerima (sesuatu) kecuali yang baik. Dia memerintahkan kaum mukmin sebagaimana memerintahkan para Rasul dengan firman-Nya, ‘Wahai Rasul, makanlah rezeki yang baik yang telah kami anugerahkan kepadamu” (kata perawi) Rasul kemudian menjelaskan seorang pejalan kaki, comot dan kotor, menadahkan kedua tangannya ke langit berdoa, ‘Wahai Tuhan, wahai Tuhan’, (tetapi) makanannya haram, minumannya haram, pakaiannya haram, makan daripada barang haram, maka bagaimana mungkin ia dimakbulkan. – MOHD SHAUKI ABD.
